Tree planting, nurturing completion of children held in July

Under the auspices of “White Colored Philanthropic Organization”, a competition in the name of “Tree Planting and Nurturing Competition of Children” was held in the compound of Thiri Mingala Shwebon Oo Monastery in Dagon (East) Township on 17 July 2011. A total of 60 children grouped together in five teams planted (50) saplings of star-flower (Indian medlar).

At the happy occasion of tree planting, five social organizations namely the Spectrum, the Golden Green Group, the Mya Thar Green Plain, the Green Lover Team, and the Free Funeral Services Association (Yangon) attended and inspired the activities. They held educative talks on the environmental conservation in conjunction with the tree planting outdoor work of the children. The timeframe of the competition was earmarked as one year project covering the lucky draws of items as gifts for the children, the monitoring on the growth of trees undertaken team-wise after six months, the extent of growth achievement. The assessment will be followed by cash awards as well as prize awards, it was learnt.

The said organization, based on the available funds, has earmarked the agenda such as the cash assistance for one year academic grants for (25) for poor students, the dissemination of educative talks on cultural values for children, the entertainment with traditional puppet shows, the ordination into novice of (25) young boys, the initiation into Buddhist nuns of five young girls, and the grant of educational materials and items for poor children.
