Members of the Katsu Kachin Baptish Church in Waimaw Township have sent a letter of complaint to the chief minister of Kachin State saying that they have been banned by government troops from entering the church since Aug. 13.
Burmese army Infantry Battalion (IB) Nos. 58 and 318 rejected an earlier appeal made by the Kachin Christian church members on Aug. 16, saying that landmines had been planted in the compound of the church, as well as in a school compound, and along several main roads. The church has called on the chief minister to have the mines removed.
