Foreign tourists surge in Bagan

The number of tourists is increasing in ancient Bagan city, compared with previous three years, according to a responsible person of Bagan Hoteliers Association.
 
In this regard, security team will prohibit disorderly dinner parties that are not in line with Myanmar traditions and culture at this archeological site.

Secretary U Zaw Weik of the Bagan Hotelier Association said, “The number of domestic and foreign tourists in this open season broke the record of previous three years. However, we do not permit to hold dinner parties in any places of Bagan archeological site. A security team has been organized last month to carry out this duty for 24 hours a day. Security persons in this team are well experienced in this area.”

It was reported that all the rooms in most of the hotel have been booked since the beginning of 2011 open season.

Human Resource Manager Ma Khwa Nyo of the Bagan Hotel also said, “The rooms of our hotel have been fully booked for foreign tourists from November to the end of January. We have 107 rooms. The number of tourists is expected to increase this year.”

There are 72 hotels in Bagan, the ancient city of Myanmar, according to the list of Bagan Hoteliers Association.
